Matteo Castaldo
Matteo Castaldo is an Italian physical therapist working as a clinician, researcher, and educator in the field of headache management. He earned a Master of Science in Cognitive Neurosciences from Milan University (Italy) and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Aalborg University (Denmark). He attended many manual therapy courses by Schomacher, Dommerholt, Power, Herbert, Fernández-de-las-Peñas, Mayoral del Moral, Falla, Rosenberg, Watson, Shepard, Clendaniel, and Donatelli, among others. Matteo started teaching courses about myofascial pain, chronic pain, and headaches in 2012, and since then, he has been teaching courses for physical therapists and physicians in Italy, Spain, Denmark, and Ukraine. He has taught more than 100 courses over the last 10 years and participated as a speaker at more than 25 national and international congresses.
Nowadays, he spends 50% of his time assessing and treating headache patients while he works on research projects in the same field for the remainder of his time. He has published more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals on headaches, myofascial pain, central sensitization, and chronic pain. His H-Index is 13.
He is a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), the European Pain Federation (EFIC), the International Headache Society (IHS), the European Headache Federation (EHF), the Italian Headache Society (SISC), the Italian Association of Physical Therapists (AIFI), and the Italian Manual Therapy Group (GTM).
When he is not working, he loves to go hiking in the mountains, play beach volley, or simply relax at home with good friends or a book.
