Congratulations to Marisa Hoffmann, instructor of the CRAFTA courses in the US, for being awarded the prestigious Philosopher’s Stone by Physio Deutschland in recognition of her professional, scientific, and international contributions to physiotherapy. The Philosopher’s Stone is one of the highest honors within the association.
Former recipient of the award, Dr. Antonia Diegisser, commented on Marisa’s impressive career path, particularly emphasizing her continuous professional development and passion for physiotherapy.
Marisa completed her Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy at Fresenius University of Applied Sciences (Germany) in cooperation with Utrecht University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands), followed by a Master’s degree in Health and Rehabilitation at the University of Southampton (UK). She specializes in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (OMT) and has proven expertise in jaw, head, and facial pain.
Marisa is the owner of a private practice Agilphysio, and she lectures on clinical reasoning at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Mainz (Germany).

She has been associated with CRAFTA since 2015, teaching the CRAFTA courses in Europe, Canada, and the US.
Dr. Diegisser characterized her as “inquisitive, dedicated, and constantly evolving – both professionally and personally. Her current involvement in topics such as guideline development and the use of artificial intelligence in physiotherapy underscores her commitment to actively shaping the profession.”
The “Philosopher’s Stone” has been awarded annually since 2001 to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to physiotherapy in Germany. The award, weighing approximately nine kilograms, is traditionally presented by the previous year’s recipient. This year marked the 25th time the honor has been bestowed – a special anniversary for a special award.
Again, congratulations to Marisa!
