Intramuscular Electrical Stimulation (IMES) is rapidly gaining traction among rehabilitation and pain medicine professionals as a powerful tool for treating a wide range of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. Emerging research highlights the enhanced therapeutic benefits of combining dry needling with neuromodulation—offering better outcomes compared to dry needling alone across a variety of painful clinical conditions. Aside from pain, IMES is also used to promote restoration of muscle function and to enhance strength training programs in healthy and athletic populations, among others. 

Despite its growing clinical use, research and education are critically needed to guide clinicians decisions in selecting optimal stimulation parameters and treatment dosages for IMES. More importantly, a common-sense knowledge of principles related to electrical stimulation is often overlooked in the applications of IMES. Furthermore, for busy healthcare professionals, navigating the expanding literature related to IMES and neuromodulation can be challenging and confusing. 

This LIVE webinar will introduce IMES foundational concepts, highlight recent research related to IMES for various clinical conditions, and provide a theoretical overview of its mechanisms and multiple applications. Time will be available for questions.
