What do our students say about our courses?

Jan Dommerholt, PT, DPT

When clinicians attend Myopain Seminars courses, they commonly express excitement about the new skills they learned and how much they appreciate our instructors. For example, NolaGrace Brown (being treated below), a new graduate physical therapist from Monroe, NC, shared a great email with her instructors:

I cannot thank you enough for your guidance, stories, leadership, and incredible instruction at DN-1 in Charlotte a few weeks ago.

I hit the ground running from the moment the course ended! I needled 8 people on the 1st Monday after the course, and 10 people on Tuesday, and I continue to do more and more!

I simply had the best time in the class, and I have been beaming ever since! I feel like I was a decent PT before the course, and now I feel like a PT with a superpower! I have been bragging about Myopain ever since and recommending this course to EVERYONE I can find.

Here are some of NolaGrace’s success stories so far:

59 y/o female with RTC surgery last December. Has not been able to raise her arm above 90 degrees ever since then. She has had dry needling before and felt some relief, but no significant changes in ROM. I educated her on the pistoning method, and she was apprehensive but “willing to try anything at this point.”  Performed DN to bilateral UT (only), then performed stretches and motor control for periscapular muscles. The patient then raised her arm all the way overhead and burst into tears out of excitement. Since then, we have also incorporated DN to infra and subscap with great results.

30 y/o male with L5-S1 disc herniation. Works as a CRNA, and his wife is expecting their first baby in less than 1 month. He has been making good improvements in all goals prior to initiating DN, but we have not been making great strides in his forward flexion (and he needs to be able to pick up his new baby very soon!) He could bend forward and reach his knees, and while performing straight leg raise in supine, he would start wincing at 45 degrees. He also has had DN using a different method with decent relief, but no significant change. I started needling his QL and psoas with GREAT results. Then needled the upper glutes, and 24 hours later, he was able to improve forward flexion from reaching to his knees to reaching mid shin! And he was able to tolerate straight leg raise all the way to 90 degrees!

I had my first ever TMJ eval the Thursday after the class.  If I had not taken DN-1 just beforehand, I would have been WAY less confident on where to begin.  At the Eval, I performed STM to SCM and DN to UT.  The patient felt immediate relief and improved cervical side-bend from 10 degrees to 20 degrees bilaterally. Able to increase cervical extension from 30 degrees to 40 degrees, and able to increase mandibular depression from 1 cm to 2 cm. Upon her first follow-up visit, she told me she was able to eat “normal foods” for the first time in almost 2 months (she has been on a soft food diet due to pain with mouth opening and chewing). We needled SCM at her 2nd visit, and she again felt instant relief!  Then she attended a dentist appt later that week and was able to open her mouth enough for the appt without increase in pain.

56 y/o female with Frozen Shoulder who has been very disheartened by her lack of progress so far.  Performed DN to infraspinatus, and she improved ER by 25 degrees and IR by 10 degrees.

I think my co-workers are noticing a difference in my skill level. I am the newest hire in my company (I graduated in December and have been working for only three months). They are applauding my patient results and admiring my textbook and workbook materials. Even the leadership in my company has been taking note and really admires the instructional materials Myopain provides.

I tell people daily that I would choose Myopain EVERY time!

Thank you, thank you, thank you
